Denial of Service is an attack on the users, network or host that deny legitimate access to a particular resource.
An example of this is a person sends continues requests or data to your computer system to try to deplete all the resource. DDos is a DoS, but its with the use of multiple systems in which is used to flood the bandwidth or resources of a targeted system.
What are the different types of denial of service?
Ping of Death, attackers sends multiple ping requestion to a host to do a DoS
Smurf Attack, attackers sends a ping message to the broadcast address of a network with a spoofed ip in order to flood that host.
SYN Flood,attacker utilize the TCP 3 way hand shake to accomplish this type of DoS by creating multiple embryonic session or half open TCP session on a host to depletion the host resource because in TCP some amount of resource are set a side for each connection.
Teardrop Forging fragmented packets designed to overlap each other when the receiving hosts defragment them
